The Sacred Craft

The Ancient Wisdom of Wooden Lakdi Ghana

Industrial oil extraction relies on high-speed steel expellers reaching temperatures over 150°C and toxic petroleum solvents like Hexane to forcefully wring out oil. This process oxidizes delicate fats and destroys natural vitamins.

At Brahmandnayak Lakdi Ghana, we follow the time-tested Vedic method of slow cold-pressing. A dense wooden pestle rotates slowly (< 14 RPM) inside a wooden mortar. The wood naturally absorbs friction heat, guaranteeing that temperatures never rise above 40°C.

  • Low RPM Extraction: Keeps temperatures below 40°C to preserve live enzymes
  • Zero Solvents: Absolutely no hexane, acid baths, or synthetic bleaches
  • Pure Sedimentation: Gravity settling ensures raw clarity with zero micron-stripping

From Farm to Bottle

Our 6-Step Purity Journey

Every batch produced in our Pune facility passes through six meticulous steps of artisan craftsmanship.

01

Ethical Native Seed Selection

We source directly from farmer collectives across Maharashtra and Saurashtra. Only non-GMO, clean, mature native seeds with optimal moisture levels are chosen. We reject seeds treated with chemical preservatives or anti-fungal powders.

02

Natural Sun-Drying & Cleaning

Seeds are spread across clean drying beds under natural sunlight to reach the ideal moisture percentage. Manual grading and air winnowing eliminate all debris, husk, and shrivelled seeds without any chemical washes.

03

Traditional Wooden Ghana Crushing

Clean seeds are fed into our heavy wooden mortar and pestle (Kolhu) rotating at a gentle 12-14 RPM. The wood absorbs friction heat, guaranteeing the temperature stays below 40°C. Pure raw oil slowly trickles through the wooden outlet.

04

Natural Gravity Sedimentation

The fresh raw oil is stored in food-grade stainless steel settling tanks for 24 to 48 hours. Microscopic seed fibers settle naturally to the bottom by gravity. No chemical coagulants or artificial clays are ever introduced.

05

Traditional Cotton Cloth Straining

The settled oil is filtered through multiple layers of sterile, food-grade unbleached cotton cloth. This traditional straining catches remaining particulates while retaining 100% of the oil's natural aroma, color, and micronutrients.

06

Hygienic Bottling & Tamper Sealing

The pure oil is packaged into clean, UV-resistant glass bottles and food-grade tins with airtight seals. Batch numbers and pressing dates are stamped directly, ensuring maximum farm-to-kitchen freshness.

Truth In The Details

Lakdi Ghana Cold-Pressed vs. Industrial Refined Oil

Understanding how industrial processing alters cooking oil reveals why switching to wood-pressed oil is the single most impactful health decision for your family.

Processing Aspect Brahmandnayak Lakdi Ghana Oil Factory Refined Cooking Oil
Extraction Method Slow Wooden Mortar & Pestle (< 14 RPM) High-speed metal expeller & solvent plants
Extraction Temperature < 40°C (True Cold-Pressed, Zero Burn) 120°C - 200°C (Destroys natural vitamins)
Chemical Solvents Used None. 100% mechanical seed crushing Hexane (petroleum distillate solvent)
Refining & Bleaching Zero chemicals. Natural gravity settling Acid degumming, caustic soda, bleaching earth
Deodorization Unrefined. Retains authentic aroma High-vacuum steam stripping (> 230°C)
Nutrient Retention Rich in Vitamin E, plant sterols & antioxidants Over 80% natural antioxidants stripped away
Trans Fatty Acids 0 g (Zero). Clean fatty acid structure Often forms harmful trans fats during heat refining
Aroma & Taste in Cooking Appetizing, native nutty aroma & full flavor Flat, odorless, artificial and sticky
FAQs About Process

Common Questions

Frequently Asked About Our Process

Metal conducts and multiplies friction heat quickly, driving temperatures beyond 80°C even in so-called "cold" expellers. Wood is a natural insulator and absorbs friction heat completely, guaranteeing that the oil never rises above 40°C.

Sediment is the hallmark of genuine, unrefined oil! Because we do not use chemical micro-filters or synthetic clarifiers, microscopic natural seed fibers occasionally settle at the bottom. It is completely safe, highly nutritious, and proof of authentic purity.

Absolutely yes! Traditional oils like Groundnut (Shengdana), Safflower (Kardi), and Mustard have natural smoke points between 225°C and 250°C. Because their natural antioxidants are intact, they remain stable and do not break down into toxic compounds during deep frying.

Yes! We pride ourselves on 100% transparency. Customers are always welcome to visit our Pune facility, watch seeds being crushed live in our wooden Ghana, and take home freshly pressed oil right from the churner.
